Match Preview | AFC Fylde (h)

Huddersfield Town return to league action against AFC Fylde.

Huddersfield resume their FAWNL Division One North campaign with a home tie against AFC Fylde off the back of a hard-fought 2-1 victory away to Accrington Stanley in the Second Round of the Women’s FA Cup.

A brace from top-scorer Charlotte Stuart ensured the Terriers entered their name in the draw for the Third Round.

Speaking after the match, Stuart reflected:

“We’re through to the next round, that’s the most important thing. I’m enjoying my football at the moment but most importantly enjoying that we’re winning games and we’re doing well. For us as a team it’s that confidence, we’re on a winning streak now and we’re doing well.”

The Terriers are now six matches unbeaten and will be aiming to extend that against Fylde this Sunday.

Fylde will be familiar opponents for Glen Preston’s side, having faced them twice in last season’s Northern Premier Division.

Despite both sides now competing in the Division One North, they have had contrasting starts to the season. The Terriers sit just four points behind the league leaders with a game in hand, while Fylde are rooted to the foot of the table.

However, Fylde are improving under new head coach Marc Joyce. They pushed the league leaders Cheadle Town Stingers all the way last Sunday and will look to build on that by getting a result at the Stafflex Arena.

The Town can move to within a point of league’s summit with a victory on Sunday.
