Huddersfield Town Women FC

Match Preview | Wolves (h)

Huddersfield Town v Wolves

By Glenys Furness

Huddersfield Town women host fourth in the league Wolverhampton Wanderers. Town Women have drawn their last 2 matches and are very much in the relegation zone. Wolves have four games in hand on League leaders Newcastle United. However, with a difference of 26 points between first and fourth, it is unlikely that even with a win against Town women that Newcastle can be caught.

Huddersfield Town women have been playing much better these last few matches. It may, unfortunately, be too little too late to save them from the drop. The Terrier Women have proved increasingly hard to beat even when they have lost the match. They have been close and hard fought. Draws against Halifax and Liverpool Feds have given the Women Terriers hope that they can play well and get something against opponents.

Wolves completed a league double over Town Women last season and also winning the League Cup quarter final against the Terrier women. This means they will be confident about taking the points again when they visit the Stafflex Arena. Town Women have nothing to lose, needing points to try and survive. Knowing that Wolves defeated them three times last season will not give them a lot of confidence. However, with improving performances in the last few games, anything is possible. A win will certainly give the Women Terriers a much needed boost.

It will be a difficult match for Huddersfield Town Women, but they will treat this match the same as all the others. Trying their best and if they can score the Terrier Women can upset the odds and get a much needed victory and three points.
