The home side kicked off the affair at a rainy Young Guns Arena, and opened the scoring after just 5 minutes through Ocean Rolandsen, who picked up a loose ball from a corner and smashed it into the roof of the net.
Town were eager to reply and after a good spell of attacks, found an equaliser in the 14th minute. It was a scrappy goal that began from a Kate Mallin corner, which eventually fell to the feet of Scarlett McMahon on the goal line to poke home.
It was almost 2-1 after York goalkeeper Becky Sidwell dropped the ball at the feet of Kate Mallin, who’s shot hit the post and the score remained 1-1.
Not much happened for the reminder of the half, as Town were pushing for a goal but the hosts were defending well. The final chance of the half came from a deep free kick, which was whipped into the box by Mallin and found the head of Charlotte Stuart, but she couldn’t find the target.

McMahon got the second half underway, but there were no significant chances until the 63rd minute, when Ella Duffield’s shot was going wide and was almost flicked in spectacularly by Stuart.
It wasn’t long after this until Town took the lead for the first time, thanks to Rebecca Beresford’s pace and thinking to take it round Sidwell in net, and place it into the back of the empty net.
Town weren’t happy with the one goal lead, as substitute Yasmin Mason was put through on goal and used her pace to get ahead of the defender in the 86th minute. Her shot was fired over the crossbar but the Terriers didn’t stop there…
This was shortly followed by a big chance to score a third, as Beth Ibbotson’s long range effort was spilled to the feet of Ashley Tiripke, but she can’t control it in time before she’s tackled.
She made up for this in the final minute of the game by scoring from a fantastic passing move inside the box! Beth Stanfield and Ella Duffield played a lovely one-two before passing it to Mallin just outside the 6 yard box before laying it off for Tiripke, who placed it past the keeper and puts Town through to the next round of the FA WNL cup!
