Huddersfield Town Ladies are delighted to announce the signing of Katie Astle from York City Ladies. The forward joins us with 14 goals already this season for the Minster Belles, looking to increase her tally in West Yorkshire.
The 23-year-old forward joins us from fellow FAWNL Division One North side York City Ladies. Having scored 14 goals in just 16 games for the Minster Belles this season, Katie brings proven quality to our squad. We caught up with her to help you to get to know her better:
How are you feeling about both the signing and your opening games at Huddersfield Town?
KA – “I’m thrilled about joining Huddersfield Town. Town are a very strong, competitive team and I want to compete and repay the faith the manager has shown. I’m excited to get on the pitch and make my debut for this big club.”
What are your best qualities as an attacker? And what do you feel you can provide to the side?
KA – “I like to link the play in the final third. Holding off defenders to create space for my teammates. I want to bring goals and assists and help get the club back to tier 3. I’ll work as hard as I can to help the team.”
Have you had the chance to talk to Glen and your teammates? Has this assured you on the move?
KA – “I had some good conversations with Glen and the coaching staff and I can really see the ambition of the club. They like to play quick, exciting football, a style of football I look forward to being a part of. All the girls made me feel really welcome at my first session last week and I just can’t wait to get started with them all in the league.”
What are your ambitions for the remainder of the current season?
KA – “I want to establish myself in the squad and help the team as much as I can with goals and assists, but I really hope we can push for promotion. I know this team has the quality to win the league. I’m buzzing to put on the shirt and get on the pitch.”
