Town travel to struggling York
Huddersfield Town Ladies will be hoping to make it three wins in a row when they make the short trip to York City on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts currently sit in 9th after a fairly inconsistent season, but don’t look under any threat of dropping into the relegation zone.
Despite this, York are coming off the back of a huge 13-0 win over Redcar in the County Cup and an hard fought 3-2 win against Durham Cestria in their last league outing.
It was back in October when the two sides last met, Town coming out 2-0 winners on the day.
The Hosts
Where York currently sit in the league shouldn’t lead to Town underestimating them. They have picked up some decent results over the course of the season.
Most notably, holding title chasing Middlesborough to a 1-1 draw back in February.
Whether it’s in the cup or league, they have proven they can score goals in heaps. On top of their last outing against Redcar, they have also picked up a 20-0 win over Northallerton in the previous round.
Even when coming out on the wrong end of the scoreline, they have the ability to score in abundance, something that the Town defence should be weary of.
Their top scorer still remains Katie Astle who made the move to Town back in January but goals have been coming from all over for York in the following months.
The Visitors
Town will be in high confidence after their recent form and will be hoping to keep their winning streak alive.
The forward partnership of Katie Astle and Kate Mallin will be hoping to ride the wave of momentum after great showings against Leeds and Fylde respectively.
With the addition of Fliss Jones to bolster an already formidable attack, Town will be hoping that she can get of to a great start against her former club.
A clean sheet last time out is a good boost for the defence when coming up against a York side who have the ability to find the back of the net.
Glenn Preston will be wanting his side to use this momentum they have built up in recent weeks and not let having a week off throw any unnecessary spanners into the works.
Final Conclusions
This run of form for Town seems to be a long time coming and thoroughly deserved. A few games at the start of 2025 it felt like they were playing really well and the results weren’t always reflecting that.
With only a few games left of the season, a bit of momentum is a positive platform to start from next campaign and hopefully this can continue against York.
