Huddersfield Town women face the team just above them in the league this week. The women terriers welcome West Brom to the Stafflex Arena. 10th v 11th in the table. Huddersfield Town Women have 2 games in hand on their Midlands opponents, but West Brom have the slightly better form.
Huddersfield Town women only won 2 games so far this season in the league. The last win was at home to Stoke City. The women terriers will be desperate for a league victory and a vital 3 points. Languishing in the relegation zone, Huddersfield Town Women need points to climb out and up the table.
This season the Town Women have not had good results, some have been very unlucky results, others they have been outclassed by teams who are now under the same umbrella as their male counterparts (Newcastle, Nottingham Forest & Burnley to name the top 3 teams in the division).
West Brom have had a couple of great wins recently to build on their position in the league. They will also be wanting to win to increase the gap even more from this weekends hosts. The visitors will be confident that they can defeat the hosts on their home ground.
Manager Glen Preston will be doing all he can to work out a way to win. This is another must win game for the women terriers, who are running out of matches to find a way up the table. A good cup run in the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Cup is the highlight of the season so far. As the holders of the cup, Town women have made the final again this year.
League form has not matched up to the same expectation and the women terriers need to do something quickly. West Brom are one position higher but 7 points clear currently. With Huddersfield Town women having 2 games in hand, the women terriers can close that gap. Some solid performances to bring the points back to the Stafflex Arena are needed or Town face the drop down to the next division.
