Nottingham Forest v Huddersfield Town

By Glenys Furness

The Terrier Women travel to Nottingham Forest for this away fixture. The hosts lay second in the league, but have 2 games in hand on top of the table Newcastle. There is a very large points gap between the top 2 sides. Even with a win Forest cannot catch Newcastle, who are going to be top of the group at the end of the season.

Nottingham Forest will still be out for all 3 points though, as Burnley Women are only 4 points behind and have a game in hand. This will be a tough away fixture for the Women Terriers, who have only won 2 games this season and haven't drawn. Second from bottom against second from
top. A very exciting prospect.

The Terrier Women need points, a journey to the hosts is not something to look forward to, given respective league positions. However, Town Women are now fighting for league survival. This often brings out outstanding performances, and in some cases amazing if surprising wins.

Forest will not be resting on their laurels, because of how close Burnley are to them so will be going all out for the victory. Forest forward Sophie Domingo will be out to replicate what she did for the hosts last time out, against Halifax. She was instrumental in 2 assists that gave them an unassailable lead.

Huddersfield Town Women will need to keep sharp eyes on Domingo, and try and stop her from the same, or even scoring herself. If the Women Terriers can keep her at bay, there is a chance for the visitors to get a rare point or 3.

The Women Terriers must start gathering points in the few matches that are left, otherwise Huddersfield Town Women will be relegated from the league and will have to build up again from next season.

It is going to be a tough ask, but anything is possible in football. Play well, don’t lose the ball and find the back of the opponents net. The last part will be the trickiest. However, Town Women will try to get the points, providing the weather co-operates and allows the game to go ahead.
