Huddersfield Town Women travel on the road again, this time to face Derby County. The terriers will be looking to secure a must needed three points. Huddersfield Town are second from bottom of the league and at risk of relegation this season.
Glen Preston’s team face a tough challenge against sixth place Derby County. The Rams have won 3 of their last five matches and put 4 goals beyond Town when the visited us at home. Huddersfield Town have struggled but did beat eighth place Stoke City at home, which gave them their second win of the season.
The top 3 in the league are far ahead of the rest. Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Burnley have all won 10 or more matches, bar Burnley, who have 2 games in hand. Huddersfield Town have 2 games in hand on the top 2, but are well behind on points.
A win against Derby will give the team some confidence and they will close the gap a little bit on Halifax, although the latter have 4 games in hand at present. Town have shown encouraging signs in recent matches, with some narrow defeats.
A second half of the season push is what will be needed by Town to start moving up the table, and after the win last time out the Terriers will want to repeat that and secure the full 3 points. The Rams will want to do the double over Huddersfield Town to edge them closer to the top 4.
The match is a must win for Town, having only secured 2 wins so far this season. Their other win was against bottom place Fylde. Huddersfield are in danger of relegation and need to stop the rot, the win Stoke could be the turning point and Town need to build on what they produced at home
there.
A difficult ask, but the Terriers are up for the challenge and will be playing hard for the win.
