Huddersfield Town Women welcome Liverpool Feds from across the Pennines and face sixth in the league. The Reds have played one more game than the Women Terriers, but have had much better results. Although sitting in the relegation zone, Huddersfield Town Women still have everything to play for.
The Women Terriers have lost four of their last five games, in fact they have only won twice in the league all season. This late in the season, however, the women Terriers seem to have found a bit of bite. They pushed Nottingham Forest and West Brom all the way and were unlucky not to get at least a point in both games.
Huddersfield Town Women are once again in the final of the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Cup. The Women Terriers are the current holders of the cup and will want to retain it to have some silverware this season. The poor run of games has left Huddersfield Town Women in a very precarious league position. It is still mathematically possible to avoid the drop, so everything is to play for.
If the Women Terriers can keep playing the way they have in the last few games, then the goals and points can come. With some luck going their way Huddersfield Town Women can stay in the league this season. It is getting harder to do, but with eight games left and around 10 points needed (we are going with the teams around them do not win any further matches, hope springs eternal) the possibilities are there.
Liverpool Feds will not be an easy game. When the Women Terriers travelled to the opponents last time, goals were scored. Unfortunately, 3 of those were by Liverpool Feds and only one by Town Women. Even though Huddersfield Town Women lost that match, it was a very good game.
The last game that Town played was against Nottingham Forest, and this showed the fight in the dog, as the ladies came so close to a point. Performances like that, should bring in points and if not, then at least they go down fighting.
Another tough match against another tough opponent, but the Town Women are up for the challenge.
