Disappointing defeat at home for the Terriers, 0-4 against Derby County

  • Town put up fight against a strong County side.
  • Defeat leaves Town in bottom 2 in the league.

 

Huddersfield Town continues on their losing streak, suffering a 0-4 defeat to Derby County after a poor performance in the second half.

Derby County controlled the game from the beginning, maintaining possession of the ball and making numerous goal attempts. Huddersfield had very few opportunities to intimidate their opponents.

Huddersfield’s best chance came in the 23rd minute when Serena Fletcher’s shot was saved by the goalkeeper.

Top scorer for Derby County Eleonor Ashton opened the scoring with a brilliant finish in the 26th minute, giving them a 0-1 lead at halftime.

The second half started with an early goal by Amy Sims in the 53rd minute. But the away team didn’t stop here, as Rebecca May scored her first goal for the Ewes after receiving the ball from a corner, making it 0-3 in the 58th minute.

Huddersfield struggled to find an opportunity, but the Ewes came off with a few more attempts before Sims stroked another goal in the 90th minute of the game.

It was a disappointing match for the Terriers ending 0-4 on their home pitch.
Huddersfield Town remains 11th at the bottom of the table as Derby County earned three points and climbed to the seventh position.

Huddersfield Town faces another tough challenge, as they prepare to take on Newcastle United who are currently in fourth position next Sunday at the Stafflex Arena with a 2pm kick off.
