A professional performance from Town earns their place in the next round of the FA Women’s National League Cup at the expense of lower league opposition Middlesbrough FC Women.
Goals in the first half from Feruiz Abdullahi and Aisha Nsangou setting Town up nicely, Lauren Robson getting a goal back for Boro before the break.
Abdullahi getting brace in the second half as well as Britt Sanderson and Dolcie O’Connor getting in on the act for Town, Boro grabbed a consolation goal late on but Town held on to book their place in the next round of the League Cup whilst our visitors drop into the League Plate.
First starts of the season for Lauren Joyce and Serena Fletcher, as well as full debuts from Feiruz Abdullahi, Aisha Nsangou, Scarlett McMahon and Caitlin Devins.
Beth Ibbotson, Freya Walton and Dolcie O’Connor keep their place as Kate Mallin, Britt Sanderson and Yasmin Mason dropped to the bench.
A breakneck start for Town as Feiriz Abdullahi opened the scoring within the opening three minutes, Boro unable to deal with the bouncing ball and Abdullahi turned home from close range.
It was two after goalscorer Abdullahi was upended 25 yards out and Aisha Nsangou’s shot was too much for Wareham in the Boro goal, only being able to palm it into the top corner.
Boro had a way back in just before the break as Lauren Robson curled home straight from the corner to trail by one at the break.
Dolcie O’Connor got her frost Terries goal just after the break, Boro got back in the game not long after but Town put their foot their foot on the gas and two goals in the space of ten minutes put the game beyond doubt as Britt Sanderson finished emphatically after a surging run from Yasmin Mason is cut back inside and Sanderson made no mistake.
Abdullahi got her second of the game not long after after Boro failed to clear the ball once again.
A late consolation for Boro didn’t spoil Towns afternoon as they booked their place in the next stage of the competition.
Town are back in action Sunday 3rd September as we travel to Stoke City FC Women with a 3pm kick off in Staffordshire.
